About Hilary |
| Hilary McLellan
has been telling stories for over 20 years. She got her start
telling stories to her family. One time, Hilary told a scary
story of her own creation that scared one of her young nephews'
friends so much, he would not come back to their house to visit
for months! But other than that, audiences have always responded
with positive enthusiasm! |
| Hilary had
extensive training
as a storyteller with several award-winning storytellers, including
Elizabeth Ellis, Jeannine Laverty, Doug Lipman, Bobby Norfolk,
and Marnie Gillard. She attended an Executive Storytelling Workshop
with the Executive Communications Group in New York City. She
also has an extensive background in mythology. She teaches a
course on Mythology and Modern Life through Empire State College.
And she has taught university courses and workshops on Corporate
Storytelling. |
| Hilary has
been a member of the Story
Circle of the Capital District for a number of years. She
is also a member of the Saratoga
County Arts Center, where she has taught workshops and reviewed
grant applications for funding through NYSCA. On July 7, 2004,
Hilary presented a storytelling workshop at the National Storytelling
Conference in Bellingham, WA. |
| In spring
2004, Hilary helped to plan and implement the Riverway
Storytelling Festival in Albany, NY. And in 2003, the mayor
of Saratoga Springs appointed Hilary to serve on the Advisory
Board of the Saratoga Springs Heritage Area Program with the
mission of helping to preserve the stories and cultural history
of the city. In July 2002, Hilary was interviewed and featured
on the radio program City Stories, broadcast by WKNO-FM
Public Radio. Memphis, TN. Hilary spoke about organizational
storytelling in the context of cities. |
